Understanding and Fixing Bosch Washing Machine Error Codes
E01 – Door Lock Error
If your machine won’t start and shows E01, it usually means the door isn’t locking properly. Check if the door is closed fully. Sometimes, detergent buildup can affect the latch. Clean around the door seal and try again. If it persists, the door lock mechanism might need replacing.
E02 – Water Fill Time Too Long
This error pops up if your washer is taking too long to fill. Make sure the water tap is fully open and that the inlet hose isn’t kinked. Clean the inlet filter screen. Homes with low water pressure may also face this.
E03 – Drainage Problem
Similar to other brands, this means your machine can’t empty water. Open the pump filter cover and clear any lint or debris. Check the hose for clogs. If water still won’t drain, the pump may be faulty.
E04 – Water Leakage Detected
The machine might detect leaking via a base sensor. Check under the machine for any signs of water. Cracked hoses or loose connections are common causes.
E05 – Temperature Sensor Error
When the machine can’t measure temperature correctly, it might not heat water or show errors mid-cycle. This often needs professional inspection.
E06 – Motor Fault
Could be an overloaded motor or a defective motor control board. Try reducing the laundry load and restarting. If the error continues, service is needed.
E07 – Heating Element Fault
This appears if water isn’t heating. Check for signs of limescale buildup if you’re in a hard water area. This typically requires element replacement.
E08 – Water Level Sensor Error
Sensor issues here can cause incorrect fills or sudden cycle stops. Restart the machine and watch if the error returns. Most often a technician needs to test the sensor.
E09 – Heating Circuit Error
This means the heating circuit is either broken or shorted. It’s different from a regular heating element failure and points to internal wiring or PCB issues.
E10 – Communication Error
Usually caused by internal component failure or moisture on electronic boards. Let the unit dry out and try again. If it persists, board replacement may be needed.
E11 – Overheating Detected
Your Bosch washer may stop mid-cycle and show this code if overheating is detected. This protects internal parts. Let the machine cool and try again.
E12 – Pressure Switch Fault
If the pressure switch malfunctions, the washer can’t tell how much water is in the drum. Restart the washer. If it recurs, the switch may need replacing.
E13 – Water Level Too High
Usually caused by a stuck inlet valve. If water continues filling even when the machine is off, turn off the tap immediately and call for repair.
E17 – Water Inlet Error
Same as E02 but specific to inlet valve or solenoid issues. Make sure hoses aren’t frozen or blocked.
E18 – Drain Pump Error
If the pump is running but water isn’t draining, the impeller may be jammed. Try to clean the pump housing.
E23 / E24 – Drainage Fault / Leak Detected
These two codes usually indicate sensor activation due to a leak or drainage malfunction. Open and inspect the filter and all pipe connections.
E25 – Drain Pump Blocked
This is a more specific version of E18. Hair, coins, fabric—any of these could block the pump. Clear out any visible debris.
E26 – Pressure Sensor Error
Similar to E12 but related to the sensor rather than the switch. Sometimes, just a wiring fault or moisture problem.
CL – Child Lock Activated
If the buttons don’t respond, your machine might just be in child lock mode. Hold the appropriate buttons (usually “rpm” + “start”) for 3–5 seconds to disable.
